Geotechnical Characteristics of Fine-Grained Soils Stabilized with Fly Ash, a Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Fly ash is a waste material obtained from burning of coal in thermal power plants. Coal consumption still very high and expected to remain above 38% globally. Therefore, large volumes fly are produced every year that need be managed as waste. Improper disposal can lead surface water ground pollution adversely affect human health environment. The use an agent stabilize soil has recently become popular geotechnical engineering due its many benefits such being eco-friendly cost-effective, improving the characteristics soil. This paper presents review properties ash-stabilized fine-grained soils. Several features ash, including classification, physical, geotechnical, chemical, mineralogical properties, concerns, disposal, availability, cost analyzed. effects wide range mechanical soils unconfined compressive strength, shear CBR value, consolidation and/or swelling characteristics, permeability reviewed detail. It shown substitute for stabilization, leading substantial economic environmental benefits.

The Effect of Geopolymerization on the Unconfined Compressive Strength of Stabilized Fine-grained Soils

This study focuses on evaluating the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of improved fine-grained soils. A large database of unconfined compressive strength of clayey soil specimens stabilized with fly ash and blast furnace slag based geopolymer were collected and analyzed. Subsequently, using adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), a model has been developed to assess the UCS of stabi...

Geotechnical Characterization Cement - Fly Ash –fibers Mix

The fly ash is a waste produced mostly from the burning of coal in thermal power station which contributes to environmental pollution. It is naturally-cementitious coal combustion by-product. Many studies have been reported in the literature on the performance evaluation of soil – fly ash system as well soil-fly ashfiber system. Although ample studies have been reported with randomly distribute...

Leaching Behavior of Petroleum Contaminated Soils Stabilized with High Carbon Content Fly Ash

Utilization of recycled materials as a substitute for natural soils in engineering applications such as highway construction is an emerging application area. A research study was conducted to investigate the stabilization of petroleumcontaminated soils (PCSs) using another recycled material, high carbon content fly ash (HCCFA), and evaluate the feasibility of using the final product in highway ...

Elastic properties of fly ash-stabilized mixes

Stabilized mixes are used in the construction of bearing layers in asphalt and concrete pavement structures. Two nondestructive methods: resonant frequency method and ultrasonic pulse velocity method, were used for estimation of elastic properties of fly ash-stabilized mixes. Stabilized mixes were designed containing sand from the river Drava and binder composed of different share of cement and...

The use of stabilized fly ash as a green material in pavement substructure: A review

Fly ash is a waste produced in coal-fired thermal power stations. It has pozzolanic properties and can therefore be stabilized to achieve higher strength and durability required for use as pavement substructure specifically as subbase or base layer material. The stabilization of fly ash can be achieved by adding either cement, lime or other materials. Stabilization of fly ash with available ind...
